AMA has worked with Southwark Council to implement new ways of working at locations across the organisation as well as delivering a variety of design consultancy projects.
We used our WorkWare tools to analyse office plans for 16 locations, undertake an occupancy survey of 1,700 workspaces and to engage with senior managers and staff. We assessed the appetite for change amongst staff; set out space planning and design principles; produced IT, HR and FM guidelines and created detailed spatial requirements.
Our recommendations enabled the Council to reduce its space requirements, capital and running costs, and improve cohesion between different areas of service delivery by consolidating in a new head office near London Bridge Station.
AMA also worked closely with Southwark Council to transform a series of three collocated buildings in Peckham to provide flexible workplace accommodation. We were involved from inception to completion of the fitting out of the developer’s building shell. We led the design team and provided full design and technical drawings, schedules and specifications to match Southwark’s requirements of making the most of the opportunities and constraints of the buildings. “Generic designs” have enabled changes of users and detailed requirements to be made easily with minimal cost and disruption.
The architects for Southwark Council’s head office were Allford Hall Monaghan Morris.
