Joanna Eley is an architect, BEE (Design Council/CABE enabler) and an RIBA-accredited Client Adviser. She specialises in developing space strategies for public and private sector organisations and charities. She is a facilitator for HEDQF, and a trustee of the Useable Buildings Trust..
Joanna has researched and written technical publications for many public bodies including CABE, the Heritage Lottery Fund, the Home Office, the Office of Government Commerce, the Sure Start Programme and Sport England. She masterminded CABE publications: Creating Excellent Buildings: A guide for clients and Creating Successful Masterplans: A guide for clients.
Joanna graduated in PPE at Oxford before studying architecture at the University of Pennsylvania and London University. With Alexi Marmot, she is co-author of Understanding Offices: What every manager needs to know about office buildings (Penguin) and Office Space Planning: Designing for tomorrow’s workplace (McGraw-Hill). She has recently contributed chapters to books on subjects across a wide range of subjects: new attitudes to masterplanning, future university campus development, design of library learning spaces and how to be an effective construction client
